Quick Guide to Setting Up
Your NFC Tags

Here's how to program any NFC tag in easy to follow along steps!
The process should take about 30-90 seconds total.
Apple users can leverage the built in 'Shorcuts' app but I personally prefer using the free app 'NFC Tools'

Download the NFC Tools App here:

Apple App Store         Google Play Store

Step by Step Guide

Step 1

Download the free "NFC Tools" app (links above) and open it.

Step 3

Here, you will see a page with three options.
Click the option "Add A Record"

Step 3.jpg

Step 4

You have many options to code into your NFC tag.
The recommended option is "Custom URL/URI" as it is the only option that will work with ALL smartphones.
**ONLY use "Custom URL" to ensure your NFC tag will work with all compatible phones. Do not choose the Contact Option.**

Step 5

Choose the site you want to share with your tag and copy/paste your web link
You can use any website. Linktree, Instagram, SoundCloud, Youtube video/channel, Venmo, PayPal, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest, house listing, a Google doc! Anything on the web!!

** Be sure to include https://  and check there are no extra spaces before or after your link**
Click "OK" in top right corner when you are finished.

Step 6

Your Custom URL will be added!
The app tells you the amount of space your link takes up, it must be under 256 bytes.

**NOTE: Smartphones only understand one single link, adding multiple items here will not work. To put multiple links on your NFC tag, you can use a service like  LinkTree or on your own website create a special landing page.

Click "Write"

Step 7

You will see a "Ready to Scan" Pop Up.
Your device is looking for an NFC tag to write the code to.

For iPhone, hold the top-center of your phone, by the camera, within 1 inch of the NFC tag when you see the "Ready to Scan" Pop Up on your screen.

For Android, place backside-middle of phone onto your NFC tag.

Your device will make a sound and/or vibrate when your NFC tag is officially written!
This should take less than one second. If you get an error message, try again!

You Did It !

Happy Dance!! This check mark symbolizes that your NFC tag is programmed!

You can test the NFC tag by holding your smartphone near it. Your phone should automatically receive the information you encoded via a drop down notification. You do not need an app to read an NFC tag, any compatible phone will read the tag within 3 inches as long as the screen is on. Smartphones often take 1-2 seconds to scan. Some Android devices may need to have "NFC" enabled in their settings.

You can re-program another link into your tag whenever you would like. Repeat these steps to overwrite the previous link.
